Review. The internet's sense of humor

Being the kind of guy who spends much of my free time doddering around on the internet and hanging around with people who actively uses such humor in their day to day dealings. I'm in a better position then most to discuss such things. Depending on where you are at any point on the world wide web you might be starring at a few different types of humor. Blogs and the like make use of witty lines and ironic humor and although this might be the type most people are familiar with it is by no means the kind which the internet at large has been come to be known by.

By and by the internet has by its own hand become infested with the endless repetition of forced jokes, commonly called memes. These jokes are ether a line or a picture which is posted ad nausiume throughout the endless list of forums and message boards. Normally these memes are taken from a real even or quote from a popular medium like a TV show. Occasionally it will be taken from one of the posts on these message boards. The most common offender being 4Chan's "/b/" board.

the /b/ board is commonly described as the cesspool of the internet. Originally used as the 'random' board on 4Chan, it has devolved into a hell hole of offensive escapism and trolling. Due to its level of anominimaty posters are able to post any view or opinion. Most of the jokes are based around the degradation of women and black people. /B/ is also the home of the "internet hate machine" Anonymous, who's campaign against Scientology caught the media's attention in 2008. Yet despite the media's over reaction. The protests where rather light hearted. Showing the softer side of the meme. However that dousn't mean to say that the internet's idea of fun is always soft. For example, trolling.

Trolling is another popular past time of the internet humor, one user somewhere will make a post with the express purpose of making someone extremely angry. They then sit back and "lerk". At some point someone will reply. The fun then starts as the troll starts an ever escalating argument.

Fun it seems is sparse on the internet, it seems.

Probably be the reason I wrote this then...

Swings and roundabouts I guess.

Customization. An idiot's thoughts.

I'm getting rather sick at starring at the generic blackness which has been my blog for a while now. Its not exiting or different. It simply shows a lack of attention or caring and I want that to change. To make my mark on my own blogging site, to show the essence of what it is that I do.

In short I need to edit my blog window display, and bring it more in line with what this blog is supposed to be about, or at least the theme of what its supposed to be about. Or at least what I want the the theme of what its supposed to be about to be...

the name of this blog is "the Wickerytown Evening Post" obviously its got something to do with a place called Wickerytown and that its some kind of paper. But what is Wickerytown? Well I'm glad you asked me pretending to be you!

Wickerytown is a fictional location, a pocket dimension which is linked to normal earth by 'doors' these doors could be anywhere. Unseeable links to a self contained city who's inhabitants once belonged to norm' earth but walked through a door. Once you walk through you may never leave. Wickerytown is alive and its blood is those who venture over the border willingly or unwillingly as they may be. People of all nationalities call Wickerytown their home. It can be bewildering to enter, and many feel trapped and betrayed. Never being able to see their loved one's again. However, all quickly come to realize that it is a haven and paradise where all may make a new life for themselves. Food appears in shops without explanation or work needed, everyone has a house ready and waiting for them when they arrive. Things that could only be found in the outside world is found in once empty stockrooms be it medical equipment, video games, or this years curriculum.

Wickerytown provides.

So the people have built their society in this place. Operating it just like the outside world. Living in stability, relative comfort and safety.

However, humanity is not the only thing to call Wickerytown it's home...

The Weirdness. A formless hive mind entity which manifests itself through its servants. Seeks to free itself from this dimensional prison by sending out it's forces to corrupt enough of the doors to let it pass through, it does this by constructing 'Hives' around a door and using the extremely potent energy created as a by product of its existence to warp the door to it's will. Normally the residents of Wickerytown are unaware of its existence. However, a group of what are assumed to be delinquents, called "Black Coats" due to their fashion choice. Fight a secret war against the Weirdness. A war that they are loosing.

This is where Ordo3 step in. A group separate from the Weirdness hunting Black Coats. But fighting their own secret war. With powers gained from exposure to the Weirdness' unique energy and equipped with technology powered by the same energy. They attempt to live a normal existence while fighting off all manner of strange happenings.

This. Is THE BIZARE OCCURRENCE OF WICKERYTOWN.

To put it simply Wickerytown is the location the myself and my brothers came up with for our own projects, a universe of odd events and odder characters. I want this blog to reflect that universe!

Ether that or just leave it as it is...

How do I shot review?

So the most hectic period in our capitalist calendar has come and gone only to be replaced by the worst blizzard this country has suffered for 30 years...

I can't decide which was more fun!

Aside from the obvious benefits like giving all school kids an extra week of relaxation to let their brains and learning skills bio degrade It gave me time to think. What about? Well how much I really want to do my own video reviews. To be posted on the internet and have people re-mix it and troll me. But the big issue I'm having is that this is me we're talking about.

Its a little known fact about me, I hate doing something which is the same as an already existing idea. I love my work to be unique as it possibly can be. Whether its a character, world, story, or reviews. I always want my own unique angle to call "my, Preshesss" with the best Gollum impression I can muster at the time.

This is where I'm drawing a blank. I love video games but there are so many people far more knowledgeable about that then me already posting reviews. Its the same for films, comic books, normal books, TV shows. Hell there are even reviewers who focus entirely on one show through its many series for their material like SFdebries, who reviews nothing but Star Trek episodes and does a damn fine job of them!

Sure you could say I could still review video games but find a unique format to do it in. But then surly I'll simply get buried under the mass of other unknown wannabe game reviewers waiting to be discovered. No I want to be able to look at a book and give as good a review as if I looked at play or a advert on the telly. I want to be able to review anything I can and still put out quality work.

Invariably with the internet, I worry that a lot of people will find me unfunny or irritating and simply spam my video's with hate comments. Kinda like with Film Brain, only I know for a fact that I can do better then him. But at the same time I worry I'll never have the individuality I crave from my work and never achieve the overly harsh bars I set for myself.

So what do you think guys? Any suggestions? Or will this post, just like any other I've put out so far be dropped into the void of indifference that blogger is?
