So... Christmas.

Yes it has come to pass once more. Same time as last year and yet we still have the whole song and dance over the wether and the panicked buying of presents and the like. It all honesty I'm starting to wonder if Britain is ever prepared for any kind of whether. EVER.

Lets be honest, come heat wave or snow our transport system breaks down more surly then any terrorist plot ever made it. A disappointing finality which hovers over everyones plans every year.

The solution to which is to not go anywhere and enjoy the simple plesure of a warm house and a welcoming family!

Merry Christmas and a happy new year!

So, New Moon

Wow haven't I just been ignoring this! I should really change Blogger to my home page, at least that way I could remember to do something with it.

So yes, something to talk about... How about... the "Twilight saga"?

Twilight and I have a rather interesting relationship. It stays the fuck away from me and I don't bludgeon it's badly written sparkly not-vampire filled pages to death with a spanner, but even with this standing agreement its impossible to escape from its presence in the world. Forums and posters, films and books, pictures and words fill the world we live in. Even the bloody pop ups are shoving it in our face! Now I might be a bit behind the band wagon with this one, but thats simply due to the fact that up until now I couldn't for the life of me decipher what it was that I disliked so much about this thrice accursed collection of glorified fan fiction.

But now it sits starring me in the face like some kind goolish imp which has decided the best way to get my attention is to sit on my chest and poke me in the eyes until I pay it some attention. The fact is lades and gentlemen, that I despise twilight for the simple fact that so much of the fans love has been placed on a man that were he a real guy would have been locked away with a cease and desist order!

Edward Cullins is far from the "Perfect man" that the fan girls clam him to be, I've seen many cases where a girl will dump her boyfriend, stating "he wasn't like Edward Cullins". This makes me wonder what it is exactly that these girls want out of a man. Could it be that they want a vampire? No thats stupid, vampires were an old legend born from peoples ignorance of the world and a whole lot of fear! They were undead monsters who were twisted by what they had become and rose from their GRAVES each night to kill. It wasn't until Stokers "Dracula" that Vampires even had a personality!

So if its not vampires that they are after then what is it then? The sparkle factor? Well I know the old adage "diamonds are a girls best friend" but that just taking it to an unnecessary extreme. Simply stating that they are only doing it because he sparkles is pretty much like saying that girl are only interested in one thing. Cash, which is unfair and slightly sexist. But considering how this book was writen by a woman that might not be a relevant point

No apparently what makes a perfect man is some creepy stalker who puts you in danger and then proceeds to have a text book abusive relationship with you. Really the perfect man girls, well done, well done indeed! Truly you all have such good taste in men.

This point of view is strangely supported by the latest of the "Twilight saga" films "New Moon". In which after getting a paper cut everyone's least favorite sparkly notvampire freaks out and dumps his Mary Sue main character love interest, who spends the rest of the film being a selfish seductive suicidal bitch. While her perfect man tries to kill himself.

No really, thats the entire film in a nut shell.

Sometimes I just wonder if teenage girls strive to become fans of some of the most mundane shit out on the market, or wether its somehow ingrained that if something is like Romeo and Juliet then it must be good (which wasn't written as a love story by the way but rather a study of the self destructive nature of human rivalry.)

Ultimately Twilight will become like Harry Potter, ignored by everyone but the hardcore fans and hated and disliked on the internet... oh wait. It already is.

One half term, no real progress

Okay I'm back from Euro Gamer Leeds and All I can on it is. Wow what a spectacle. I say that is all I can say on it but in fact its all I want to say right now. I've managed to pull a muscle in my back and as I sit here typing away its attempting to stop me breathing. So thats "FUN!" (please note, measurements of fun might differ from reader to reader)

Halloween came and went like a mysteries internet video. Everyone was talking about it, but when you finally get to see it your internet closes down and theirs a power cut. Or to put it in a less confusing way, Nothing happened for me at Halloween. Nothing!

No trick or treaters, no visitors, no frights, no scares! Not even the annual attempt by the daemons/elder gods who live under my house took place. Which was rather disappointing. We didn't even watch a scary film, we watched Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy!

So without the usual distractions of creatures with more eyes then they have teeth Halloween passed with a whisper and we where none the wiser.

But enough about my hell dwelling squatters and their attempts to kill all life as we know it! On to more important matters, like University work...

I have been somewhat distracted this half term and I will be the first to admit that it isn't really good enough. Especially when we have so little time left and so much work to do. A distinct lack of speech work or research (a result of a points failure in Leeds trapping me for a few days longer then I would have liked) and only a few moments more on the animation. (although they are some very good few seconds if I do say so myself)

I have yet to start the 750 words, and didn't even consider the mood boards.

This leaves me with one or two days to do a number of tasks.

To put it likely I'm rather screwed.

But, meh, shit happens. It my back has not healed by tomorrow then it is possible the I might not be able to make it in. I hope I will be able but as it is I'm struggling to lie down without pain and spasms racking my body.

So all in all what have we learned today children? That I'm injured, I've done fuck all work, and Halloween barely registered as a blip on the scale of "stuff that has happened"

A new form of animation to explore

Well my video capture card arived a few days ago and I've spent a few days toying with it and finding all the ins and outs of its OS. Later today I'll begin finding out wether or not I'll be able to make Machinima with this thing or at least recorded it. If it is indeed possible the my scope for the next year of university will have expanded somewhat. Although saying that I'll only be able to record in Halo 3 thanks to its handy theatre mode. Although eventualy this might be for my own amusment rather then for any uni projects.

we'll just have to see.

Other than that my recent activity has been in the fleshing out of some new characters, which popped into my head about 3 days ago. One being in the form of a Murderous psychotic lunatic and the other being in the form of a summoner. Today I'll be talking about the lunatic.

The character revolves around two things killing stuff with his head and being creepy while doing it. And by killing stuff with his head I don't mean psychic powers. No no no no no, I mean as in head butting his opponents/pray to death. The character is an Oni. An ogre which has been sealed away is a cell for the past 1000 years in the vain hope that it will starve to death. It is highly cannibalistic and feeds on the flesh of humans (they're rather easy to catch) To aid in its starvation its imprisons crafted a metal helm which leaves it both blind and without the use of it's mouth. To stop him destroying the helm they also bound his arms behind him and too him. Over the centuries his arms have withered away but in doing so he has learned how to live with his head and his legs only. It is entirely silent and extremely powerful and fast.

Taking the form of a thin long limbed man in some sort of straight jacket and an head encompassing metal helm, this Oni strikes without warning smashing aside all resistance with bone pulping force. It moves like an insect scuttling along walls and wandering along streets until it detects something to kill, at which point it attacks without warning.

It is extremely bendy and supple, using its head as a third limb to perform stunning feats of agility and stamina. Where it to ever damage its helm enough to break the mouth open the world would truly be doomed as once it begins its feeding frenzy again their will be no stopping it. And the earth shall run red once more.

(I'll try and post some pictures soon to give you some idea of how it looks, if I can remember how to post pictures that is)

An alternative to an irritating problem.

Well after having my every attempt to obtain a capture card for the mac thwarted I've decided to be rather sneaky and get a PC capture card. Yes I do know that made my whole internet hissy fit rather pointless, but sometimes you've just got to rage.

To do this I've asked a number of my internet buddies for advice on the particular model they use and what not. And unless the gods of internet transaction are conspiring against me (Pinnacle I'm looking at you, down the scope of a rifle dammit) I should have it in a few days of ordering it. One other advantage is that it should be cheaper, so thats one silver lining to this particular situation.

More updates to come as they do.

Let's Playing. What's gone on?

Hello guy's I'm sorry you didn't get to see this last night but for some reason the upload took and hour and a half and stopped me accessing all other websites so I was unable to get the site address or this actual post up. So I do apologize for that.

Essentially the reason I've not released another video in so long is because after I set up my Mac I didn't have any way to let's play,

So the plan was to get a video capture card and use my consoles to bring you all joy and happiness. I mean how hard could it be to get hold of a video capture card for a mac...?

As it turned out Extremely hard, bordering on the impossible.

My Quest started out with a long search, this went on for nearly 5 months, maybe more I kinda lost count, It got interrupted by university projects and many other niggling tasks. It wasn't until the summer holiday started that I actually found what I was looking for. Amazon dot co dot uk!

It was here that the Pinnacle video capture for mac was discovered. One of the only Video capture card for mac on the market there where a load of video's on Youtube of how it worked and it was fairly affordable. (£48.99, something like that)

So I ordered one as well as a few other bits that I would need. The bits came first no pressure no problems there...

And then the wait began, for around two months I heard nothing of the capture card I ordered. Zero, zilch, nothing.

Then one day I received a email and my heart soured. Only to find the product had been canceled, as in production stops immediately. I got my money back, but wasn't given any more information on where to get a product quite like it.

My rage was quickly sumounted and I contineued the search my next stop was ebay. A website which I despise but could serve its uses for now. And after one quick search there it was! The only result on the page. The very product I'd been looking for and lo and behold no one had bid on it. the starting bid was £50.

I immediately signed up for a paypal account and a ebay account and made the first bid of £50.00 then I waited and watched.

It came down to the last few minuets where the ass-holeish practice of last minuet biding happened. He made his bid and I waited till the last 5 seconds to post mine...!

Then the fucking website logged me out and didn't log my bid...

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

Anyone who follows me on twitter pretty much know what happened next. You can find me there as Arashiofordo3 or Alexander Burnett.

I suppose this whole thing wouldn't be such a problem if Pinnacle hadn't dropped their ENTIRE VIDEO CAPTURE CARD CATALOG FOR ONE REALLY EXPENSIVE PRODUCT!!!!!

The only capture card they now sell is a hybrid of mac and pc capture cards which comes with all these features that I do want or care about. The best part is this new product costs £250.00.

Pinnacle is my new nemesis!

Thwarted in my latest attempt I turned to eyeTV a run of products which work as both capture cards and live streaming (TV to mac) Problem is they all cost around £100 pounds or more. Nearly double what I was trying to pay for the products I had found already.

This now means that rather then ending my long term hiatus I'm having to save up all over again to afford something which is completely unnecessary it terms of the features it can do.

And my friends wonder why I can be extremely cynical some of the time.

Welcome all

So hi! You're probably all thinking 'Hey another blog, woopdy friging do!' and in response to that I can only answer, thanks for your support at least you're under no illusions as to what this is.

But in truth this will be my voice out into the all encompassing back hole that is the internet, it matters not to me if you chose to follow, only that you stop (if even for a moment) to listen.

The Wickerytown Evening Post will be where I'll post all update's to everything Ordo 3 (comics, videos, let's plays, you get the idea) as well as being a place for myself and my colleges to expunge our collective hate.

So, happy reading.

Welcome to Wickerytown, hope you enjoy your stay.

PS. try the sandwiches, they're delicious!
